Proceed

March 15, 2012

I had some pretty terrible dreams last night, one or two of which might have been a bit prophetic, based on some things going on in the lives of those around me right now.  I woke up and wrote this…

The wayward path,
The unknown seems so inviting,
Yet darkness looms,
Wisdom bids us turn around,
Experience makes our hearts race.

We proceed.
It is really all that terrible?
Isn’t the experience worth a little risk?
Can’t risk be rewarded?
Isn’t pleasure our ultimate purpose?

We’re told it’s not,
But how do they know?
This is our path,
Our opportunity to journey into the unknown;
The potential justifies the rebellion.

We proceed.
Ignore the wisdom.
Ignore the trepidation.
After all, we are forging a new path.
We know what we want.

Precedence is a liar,
Caution inhibits,
Our feelings are real.
True.
Now.

We proceed.
